Repairing the Breach with the Justice League of Greater Lansing

UUMC has proudly accepted a challenge from the Justice League of Greater Lansing to contribute $100,000 to its permanent endowment fund, supporting efforts to close the wealth gap for descendants of enslaved Africans in our community. We join more than a dozen area faith communities, civic organizations, and individuals in this important commitment.

To date, we have raised $29,000 toward this goal. We give thanks for the generosity shown so far and encourage continued giving as we work together to fulfill our commitment.

The final official act of the 2025 Leadership Board was to unanimously accept this challenge and approve a plan to meet it. The UUMC Endowment has also approved a $12,000 matching grant, matching gifts at a rate of $1 for every $2 donated. Our goal is to reach the full $100,000 within three years through pledges, donations, and additional Endowment support.

We invite all members to prayerfully consider making a pledge. All pledges and donations will remain confidential.

Pledge envelopes are available in the pews. Donations may also be made through Venmo (please note “Reparations” in the memo line).
