As the southeastern states of Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, North and South Carolina and beyond begin to recover from the disastrous destruction of both property and lives from hurricane Helene, UMCOR is ready and willing to help those in need. Rev. Rick Blunt shared his experience with UMCOR at the Lowell UMC after the 100-year flood; “UMCOR was the first agency to contact us to see what we needed. They sent cleanup buckets and money to help with cleaning and purchasing food to distribute. They were there first and offered the most help of all the agencies involved.”
If you have the ability and desire to contribute to those in need due to Hurricane Helene there are three ways you may contribute.
1. Write a check directly to the church: use “University United Methodist Church,” and ear-marking the check “UMCOR #901670 Hurricane Helen.”
2. Donating online to UMCOR or writing a check directly to UMCOR, again using their “ADVANCE ID #901670 Hurricane Helene” and addressing your donation to:
UMCOR
Global Ministries
458 Ponce de Leon Avenue NE,
Building A, Suite 1,
Atlanta, Georgia 30308
3. Through the Venmo electronic funds transfer app @UUMCDonation with “UMCOR ADVANCE #901670” in the memo line.
Please keep those in need in your thoughts and prayers over the next few weeks. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
UUMC Missions Committee
