November 22, 2023
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We celebrate Jesus’ birthday by giving love and sharing joy. And each year, the UUMC Missions Committee designates one local and one international non-profit for our congregation to support through a special Christmas Offering. For 2023 the Missions Committee has chosen to support HAPI (Haitian Assets for Peace International) and St. Vincents Refugee Services (STVCC).
This special Christmas offering will be divided equally between these two organizations for the good and life saving work they are doing. Please return your gift in the enclosed envelope or donate through the Venmo app ( @UUMCDonation) and indicate that it is for the “Christmas Offering.”
Here is a bit more about the two organizations:
HAPI: HAPI – Haitian Assets for Peace International | HAPI is Hope
Haiti is one of the poorest nations in the western hemisphere. HAPI empowers people, promotes health and wellness, delivers skilled training, brings technology, and creates economic opportunities to grow personal and community assets for families to thrive not only survive. HAPI employs an integrated approach to harness the natural synergy between health, education, and economic development to create momentum for change. HAPI’s mission is helping Haitians live longer, more prosperous lives through innovation, collaboration, learning, and leadership in healthcare and education.
St. Vincents Charities Refugee Services: Refugee Services – St. Vincent Catholic Charities (stvcc.org)
St. Vincent Catholic Charities is the designated refugee resettlement agency for adults and families in Lansing and Mid-Michigan. Through a federal government program, this local organization assists with the basic essentials to welcome refugees to the Lansing community and help them to reach self-sufficiency.
Thank you for your generosity and for sharing the gift of Christmas with others this season.
